Winners of the Botrytis Giveaway and a Quick Scent of the Day

Congratulations to the winners of the Botrytis samples, Cinne, Kandice and Wendy C Turgeon!  Pleases send me an email with your mailing address (just hit contact above for my email) and I’ll try to get these to the post office this week.

Thanks to all who told me about the sweetness in their lives. It was a treat to read your answers as they rolled in over the long weekend. Hope everyone is feeling rested and ready for school, work or whatever is coming up next for you. It’s still summer here in Austin and will be for another couple of months, but I’m pretending it’s fall with hot black tea and a tiny dab of the mulled wine, ripe fig and dark roses of Parfums DelRae’s Bois de Paradis.

What does your day smell like today?*

*A slightly dangerous question, I know. We live on the edge around here.

  1. Oh, Bois de Paradis is one of my very favorites! It’s my aunt’s signature scent, and I’ve never been near her without telling her how fantastic she smells. The bottle she gave me as a gift did its fair share in sending me down the fragrance rabbit hole. So gorgeous!

I’m drinking hot rather than iced coffee for the first time in months–a decision based solely on the fact that it’s raining in Cambridge today. And I’m wearing Seville a l’Aube, surprised to be smitten with its lavender (a note that can go so wrong on/with me).

    • Glamorous aunts seem to play a role in one out of every three down-the-rabbit-hole perfume story I hear. I always think of Auntie Mame. It’s something I aspire to be myself, now that I have a nephew and a niece.

So happy you’re enjoying your Seville a l’Aube. It doesn’t work for me, but right now I’m imagining how delicious it would smell with your coffee nearby…

  3. Finished reading the book Alyssa It it truly a Gem! I had to read it slowly to really let it sink in.

I’ve been wearing a combination of vintage Joy and My recreation of the Classic Quelques Fluers. I love big florals, being a perfumer I live with fragrance on after my work hours, so they won’t interfere. I love to live in a deep wake of perfume. It is stil hot and very humid in NYC so florarls for about another week untill it cools off then I am itching to be wearing some Chypre de Coty.

    • Oh Chypre will be wonderful. As I was saying to Ayala up above I was looking at my vintage beauties today and longing for cooler weather–Mitsouko and Vol de Nuit especially.
